Why spreading tourists around is not a solution, according to Isabel Mosk
Tourism strategist Isabel Mosk shared her sharp insights in an AT5 news item, which was also picked up by the international television network Al Jazeera. The central question was whether campaigns such as “Stay Away” are effective against overtourism in Amsterdam.
Isabel warned that spreading tourists around is not a structural solution, but rather creates room for further growth: ‘In my opinion, spreading tourists around is an excuse to keep growing.’ She advocates bold political choices and emphasises that the image of alternative destinations, such as Flevoland or the IJmond, will not automatically become more attractive to the masses.
